When looking for the best solution for your removal, you will realize soon that we can find different rates for each company. The difference in rates can be explained - the calculation of the removal price is not an easy process, there are many factors that influence the budget offered by a moving company.
However, that factor plays a secondary role in the diversity of prices that can be found in the moving market. The primary role, as in the case of many other businesses, is played by the competition factor that currently exists in the transportation sector in general and in the removal business in particular.
Let's suppose that there is a transportation company called "Company Nº1", that charges for a move of an apartment from Madrid to Lleida about €400, according to the rates interposed in the price table above.
When a new company appears on the market (let´s call it "Company No. 2"), the latter will have to take into consideration the competitor. What is the probability that this company will survive if it considers its work double the price €800? If the second company is planning to offer the same services as the first one, it will not last long, since being a start-up company means that it does not have so many clients. If they compare the prices, they will choose the first company. Therefore, to be able to survive it must have high level service and oriented to clients with high buying power, hiring qualified operators, creating a modern fleet, offering additional benefits to wealthy customers, etc. Hence, the company which has higher prices, invests more money in the business, so logically it has to offer higher level service.
Now let's consider another option. Can the newly created company ("Company No. 3") have the same policy in everything, copying the prices, the provided services of the "Company No. 1"? In principle, yes, they can, but it is unlikely to generate a large income, because the other company is already widely advertised and has its customers. Also, if they are going to lead the same policy, their growth as a company will be slowed down. Therefore, the "Company No. 3" which starts from scratch, in order to interest people, needs to set up a lower price, lower than the "Company No. 1" (for example, € 350).
It seems that everything is correct now. The difference of € 50 is not so great to affect the quality of the services provided by the "Company No. 2" (f.e. an organization does not need to reduce costs in the maintenance of the vehicle fleet, hire inexperienced workers, poor quality packaging material, etc., to obtain a profit).
However, we let´s assume that other companies will soon appear on the market: "Company Nº4", "Company Nº5" and "Company Nº6". And, to "gain ground" choose the same pricing policy as the "Company Nº3". Theoretically, this means that the "Company No. 4" for a moving from Madrid to Lleida must charge € 300, the "Company No. 5" - € 250 and "Company No. 6" - € 200. The "Company No. 6" will have the lowest price but must have some benefits (otherwise, it would not be created). The question is: How will they be able to provide the service for € 200, if the price of the "Company No. 2" of € 350 is already adjusted and the main expenses for all companies - fuel, tolls are the same? Here we can suppose that the company will receive some benefits, and the quality will be sacrificed.
Since we are in favour that every purchase, be it a product or service purchase, it is necessary to find a balance between quality and price, therefore it is recommendable to contact the “Company Nº1” (given its long stay and probably vast experience and low price, and the “Company Nº3” for the economical price, and for the reason that they do not economize on the quality of the services.
